Fertitta Family College of Medicine at the University of Houston. Job Summary Performs phlebotomy procedures for the collection of blood samples. Demonstrates competency via direct observation and assessment for the following phlebotomy procedures: venipuncture, blood culture collection for bottles or isolator tubes, age specific skills. Accurately identifies patient and collects correct specimens. Achieves productivity standards. Maintains specimen integrity by collection and transporting specimens in a timely manner. Accurately performs assignments in registration and accessioning. Utilizes all equipment and supplies in a manner that ensures safety to patients, co-workers, and self.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or GED
  • Certified Phlebotomist or eligible preferred
  • One (1) year experience preferred
  • P.C.
  • Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)
  • EPIC and Rover (If applicable)
  • Flexible; including rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays, as required
  • Phlebotomy Certification or Eligible
  • Soft Skills (Effective communication, teamwork, and adaptability)
