Sea Mar's network of services includes more than 90 medical, dental, and behavioral health clinics and a wide variety of nutritional, social, and educational services. We are recruiting for the following position: Sea Mar is a mandatory COVID-19 and flu vaccine organization Full-time Phlebotomist position available for our Marysville MedicalClinic. Employee will be responsible for performing phlebotomy, waivedtests, Automated CBCs, EKGs, Spirometry, and assist in the diagnosticand treatment of patients. Keep and maintains lab, reports and logs,processes specimens for outside referrals. Must be prepared to assistthe Medical Lab Tech or Medical Tech when necessary.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent to the US education is required
  • Graduation from an accredited phlebotomy training program required
  • X-ray training required.
  • CPR/BLS certification required

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of one year experience in a hospital or clinic setting isdesired
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Follows Universal Precautions against biohazard contaminationduring blood drawing, handling, preservation and transportation ofbody fluids, keeping area clean and disinfected, disposing ofcontaminated material in proper containers, using personal protectiveequipment (PPE).
  • Observe and follow the OSHA safety and the Health InsurancePortability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA Privacy)regulations.
  • Greetings the patients.
  • Communicates well with the patients to make sure they are kept calmand still.
  • Identifies patient with name and DOB, labels tubes and followproper timing of collection as needed with high attention to detail toensure patient's address is correct.
  • Collects human fluids, blood specimens by venipuncture andcapillary from patients using proper collection tubes for testsordered. Gives clearly instructions to the patients.
  • Verify for proper tests order in Electronic Health Records (EHR)
  • Follows written policies and procedure for a comprehensive qualityassurance program and quality control procedures, providing andassuring accurate and reliable test results and quality reports.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of temperature; preventivemaintenance activities; method procedures; quality control; andquality assurance.
  • Follows the Policies and Procedures Laboratory Manual, Safety andinfection control procedures.
  • Maintains constant contact with providers and nurses for patientcare.
  • Restock reagents and requests replacement supplies from referrallab for specimen collection and transport. Verify reagent'sexpiration dates.
  • Requires by HIPAA to protect the privacy and security of thePersonal Health Information to which you have access and follow OSHAand CLIA regulations.
  • Assist support personnel by assisting them during the day acrossvarious departments as requested, and working overtime hours asnecessary.
  • Prepares room for the patient.
  • Prepares the patient with cape, drape sheet or other suppliesneeded to maintain modesty and dignity.
  • Applies electrodes, operates EKG machine according tomanufacturer's instructions to obtain proper tracings.
  • Identifies patient by name and DOB and register in the monitor.Labels tracing as required and consults with provider if any unusualcircumstances affect the test.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and storage of the equipment.
  • Responsible to work with the manufacturer for equipmenttroubleshooting.
  • Verify for proper order in Electronic Health Records (EHR)
  • Run the calibration of the equipment every 24 hours or day of use.
  • Prepare the patient and testing following the manufactures'instruction and laboratory Policies and Procedure Manual.
  • Report accurate results to a licensed provider.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and storage of the equipment.
  • Responsible to work with the manufacturer for the troubleshootingof the equipment.
  • Verify for ordering test in EHR.
  • Blood draw patients and follow instructions for specimenprocessing.
  • Process specimens according the reference lab guidelines.
  • Tracking and review tests results in EHR every day.
  • Communicates with providers, clinic staff and reference lab forsmooth operation of the department.
