Requirements

• High School Diploma, graduate of an approved school of Phlebotomy Technology, P.B.T. (ASCP) certification, eligible or equivalent
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Influenza Vaccinations are a requirement for employment. If you are not currently vaccinated you will be required to receive the vaccination prior to hire date, during the influenza season, if you are offered employment, unless you request and receive an approved medical exemption.

Nice To Haves

• Previous clinical Laboratory experience preferred

Responsibilities

• The phlebotomist performs venipuncture, capillary blood collection and other specimen collection for all age groups.
• Additional duties may include specimen processing, point of care testing and documentation and patient registration.
• Perform and execute proper phlebotomy techniques in order to obtain patient blood samples via a needle stick.
• Review laboratory requisitions and test orders for accuracy prior to performing phlebotomy.
• Ensure proper and accurate specimen labeling and records collection and receipt of specimens in the laboratory system.
• Centrifuging and preparing specimens for pick up.
• Adhere to proper infection control practices and HIPAA policies and procedures.
