About The Position

Illinois CancerCare is seeking a full-time Phlebotomist to join our dedicated clinical team. This is a full-time position with no weekends or major holidays, offering a strong work-life balance.

Requirements

High School Diploma required
One year of phlebotomy experience
ASCP or other approved professional association certification preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification preferred

Nice To Haves

Skilled in both straight sticks and butterfly draws
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to build rapport with patients in a clinical setting
Previous hospital or oncology experience is a plus

Responsibilities

Perform routine phlebotomy procedures according to established procedures and policies.
Follow assigned schedule and work procedures.
Collect, receive, identify, and label specimens following quality assurance and safety policies.
Collect specimens for off-site testing and research.
Perform port draws and therapeutic phlebotomy procedures as needed.
Perform Glucometer testing and accurately record patient results and QC each day of use.
Organize and prioritize multiple work needs/duties.
Clean and maintain work areas.
Monitor supply inventory.
Work additional hours as requested.
Communicate effectively with office staff, patients, physicians, and external contacts.
Travel to outside clinics as needed or requested.
Perform all other duties as requested or required.
