The Phlebotomist position is part-time, 0.5 FTE, working 0730 - 1600 including rotating weekends and holidays. The role involves verifying patient identification, assessing reactions to specimen procurement, performing venipuncture and collecting various specimens from patients of all ages according to established protocols. It also includes limited testing under CLIA guidelines, handling telephone calls, assisting with inventory, and supporting billing functions. The Phlebotomist processes, packages, and tracks specimens, responds to additional procurement requests, orders and verifies test requests, documents quality assurance information, runs quality control checks, and notifies providers of critical results. They also perform laboratory result entry, proficiency testing, review reports, and instruct employees and students in phlebotomy and specimen processing.
