About The Position

The Certified Phlebotomist registers patients and collects blood and urine specimens following proper and legal collection procedures. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, ordering laboratory testing requested by physicians, forwarding test results to the appropriate areas and processing printed laboratory results. Basic Qualifications: High school diploma or GED, ability to perform venipuncture required, California Phlebotomy Technician License required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Ability to perform venipuncture required.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • California Phlebotomy Technician License (CPT I/II)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • DOT Drug Collection Training Certificate required (every 5 years)

Responsibilities

  • Register patients in the laboratory information system (LIS), if applicable.
  • Draw venous and capillary blood specimens from patients for laboratory testing
  • Arterial specimen collection
  • Process results for distribution that are printed in laboratory
  • Drug testing
  • Customer Service
  • Reference Laboratory Testing
  • Housekeeping and supplies
  • Safety
  • Other duties as assigned from time to time, including training of newly hired phlebotomists.
  • May be assigned to work at any of the Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District Out-Patient Clinics.
