About The Position

JOB SUMMARY Work Shift: 7 days on 7 days off, Wednesday - Tuesday. 4:00 am - 2:00 pm. This position may be eligible for a sign on bonus! The Phlebotomist greets and instructs our patients on sample collection procedures and performs blood and urine collection procedures utilizing standard collection methods. The individual must follow strict patient identification policies including verification of specimen labels applied to patient samples. The Phlebotomist has continuous patient contact and is the laboratory’s ambassadors to our patients and must follow applicable organizational policies. JOB QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation. Minimum Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
  • Employee may not at any time have been or be excluded from participation in any federally funded program, including Medicare and Medicaid. This is a condition of employment. Employee must immediately notify his/her manager or the Health System’s Compliance Officer if he/she is threatened with exclusion or becomes excluded from any federally funded program.

Nice To Haves

  • Successful completion of a post-secondary medical terminology course.
  • One year phlebotomy experience with venipuncture and capillary puncture.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology or exposure to a medical environment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
