It is one of the largest integrated laboratory networks serving 32 hospitals and multiple physician offices in the Midwest region. This Phlebotomist position is responsible for the collection of blood specimens, performing laboratory office duties, and processing laboratory specimens. Laboratory office duties include registering patients, accurately and completely entering all necessary data into the computer system, specimen accessioning, answering telephone calls, and processing paperwork. Specimen processing duties involve the preparation of specimens for testing and/or for sending to the central laboratory or a reference laboratory. The role also includes handling blood, body fluid, and urine specimens according to established procedures, and may involve performing limited waived and specified non-waived POC tests as authorized by the Laboratory Director. In some facilities, this individual may also act as a driver and participate in the on-call rotation.
