Department Details Summary Uses equipment to collect samples of blood and other fluids from patients/residents; explains procedures to patients/residents and collects information from them in a professional manner. Start Times: 5am, 10am, 1pm Length of Shifts: 8, 10 or 12 hours
Requirements
- High school diploma or General Educational Development Diploma (GED) required.
Nice To Haves
- Completion of a formal phlebotomy program, phlebotomy experience, and experience in a laboratory-related field preferred.
- May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Responsibilities
- Collects and manages samples of blood and specimens from patients/residents
- Ensures patient/resident safety during the sample collection process
- Records and documents patient/resident information accurately
- Follows all standard procedures and safety regulations
- Deploys asepsis techniques during phlebotomy procedures
- Communicates with patients/residents, collecting their health information and answering their questions regarding phlebotomy procedures.
