The Phlebotomist provides safe, accurate, and compassionate specimen collection services and works as part of a care team with Patient Service Representatives, Medical Assistants, Nurses, Providers to ensure a smooth continuum of care. This includes facilitating the efficient flow of patients through the laboratory process, performing venipuncture and properly labeling and processing specimens, ensuring timely transport of specimens, and documentation in the electronic health record (EHR). The Phlebotomist maintains infection control standards and regulatory compliance, including CLIA-waived testing. Responsibilities also include assisting with patient follow-up as directed, maintaining laboratory logs, monitoring supply inventory, and keeping laboratory areas clean, stocked, and orderly to support safe and efficient operations.
