About The Position

Draws blood from patients in a correctional hospital facility for analysis or other medical purposes. Performs phlebotomy as required using aseptic techniques. Maintains specimen collection containers by monitoring expiration dates. Reports abnormal findings or processing errors to the charge nurse. Check and insures that laboratory equipment is properly functioning and maintains a temperature log. Properly uses Electronic Medical Record (EMR) to ensure continuity of care. Is active in Quality Assurance monitoring for laboratory equipment. Orders and maintains laboratory supplies. Properly utilizes the collection and preparation of specimens. Effectively participates in the overall goals of the Managed Care team. Responds to all request in a timely manner as required. Support the goal of the unit by attending meetings About Managed Care: Since 1989, TTUHSC Managed Care has been providing clinical and operational support to correctional facilities throughout West Texas and other regional areas. We serve approximately 30,000 patients utilizing a broad range of comprehensive medical and health services. TTUHSC Managed Care strives to positively impact the lives of our patients, to include many who had no previous access to quality health care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • one year related experience and/or training
  • or equivalent combination of education and experience.
