About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting blood samples to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, as well as providing clerical support within the laboratory.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; certification in phlebotomy preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in sample collection and labeling.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage time efficiently.
  • Knowledge of safety and infection control procedures related to blood collection.
  • Proficient in using laboratory equipment and technology.
  • Graduate of a Phlebotomy Program (Required)
  • License/Registration (Required)
  • Have the necessary skill set to perform each essential duty satisfactorily

  • Able to read and interpret documents such as lab test orders, safety rules, procedures and instruction manuals.
  • Able to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

  • Must be able to use hands and fingers to feel objects, tools etc.
  • Must to be able to talk, hear, read and write.
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds
  • Must have good close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Responsibilities

  • Collect blood samples in accordance with established protocols to ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment.
  • Verify printed orders from the Laboratory Information System (LIS) or written requisitions.
  • Confirm patient identity by matching orders to the patient’s ID bracelet and asking for two identifiers: name and date of birth.
  • Utilize age-appropriate communication skills and techniques to ensure patient comfort during the collection process.
  • Collect samples at the requested time and deliver them to the lab promptly.
  • Perform venipunctures, finger sticks, or heel sticks to obtain specimens, ensuring all samples are labeled accurately at the bedside.
  • Gather necessary tools and equipment to collect appropriate samples efficiently.
  • Assist with clerical tasks within the lab as needed to support overall operations.
