About The Position

The phlebotomist provides patient care and helps to coordinate clinic flow. In additional to performing phlebotomy, the phlebotomist will conduct tasks, established protocols, and standard operating procedures. The phlebotomist will contribute to laboratory activities, maintain laboratory equipment and supplies. Location: Des Moines Clinic Exempt Salary Position Essential Functions:Patient Care Direct patients to exam room; obtains patient history and vitals Assists patients with dressing and transport Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times, as required by facility policy and HIPAA guidelines Phlebotomy Assists with blood draws, IVs for procedures Completed H and H test Properly process blood Ortho Ascent Kits Procedure Assistant Assists the physician with procedures as requested Prepares procedure room, sets up sterile field Preps patient for injection as directed by the physician Take and record patient vitals every 15 minutes for procedures that require IV sedation Assist with IV medications under physician guidance/orders Assist with Ultrasound imaging Patient/Clinic Flow Documents information in EMR; prepares patient files for upcoming appointments and documents encounters accordingly Stock procedure rooms and exam rooms Review schedules and staffing availability Prep new consultation and follow-up paperwork Assist with incoming faxes Assist and communicate with the Front Desk to help clinic flow stay on track Prep for the next days procedure and blood draws Order Oxygen and Nitrous or other supplies as directed Assist with laundry Provides excellent customer service to patients, physicians, and other staff Opens clinic Starts imaging equipment and computers Preps exam and procedure rooms Facilitates MRI exams Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.
