What you’ll do at DBH : · Collects blood samples for laboratory analysis for COBH patients · Performs venipuncture using established phlebotomy procedures to collect blood specimens on patient or staff as requested by medical staff · Maintains patient testing records per established regulations (e.g. Joint Commission, CMS…) · Enters records into appropriate logs (e.g. daily electronic log, testing facility records …) · Properly labels specimen collected · Ensures safety of patient and self by using personal protective equipment and following established phlebotomy safety procedures · Prepares reports from all record types for performance improvement initiatives. · Receives, reviews and delivers lab reports to units for appropriate review and placement in medical records. · Processes and prepares samples for clinical laboratory analysis · Completes necessary paperwork to safely and legally transport samples to appropriate outside laboratories or for pick-u T his position in an Intermittent Appointment it will work a maximum of 1000 hour in a fiscal year (July 1 to June 30). It does not have a set schedule and will work weekends, mainly Saturdays. Other hours may be assigned as needed. This is an hourly position covered by the OCSEA/AFSCME bargaining unit (union) , with a pay range of 27 on the OCSEA Pay Range Schedule . This position is located at COBH, 2200 W. Broad St. Columbus, OH 43223.

Requirements

  • 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in collecting medical data from persons, determining acceptability of potential blood donors, reading blood pressure & venipuncture or venipuncture/phlebotomy.
  • -Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
