Requirements

  • Proven experience in laboratory procedures, techniques, or clinical laboratory settings with a focus on phlebotomy or blood sampling
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and aseptic techniques essential for safe specimen collection
  • Hands-on experience with venipuncture (blood draws), capillary punctures, and specimen processing
  • Familiarity with hospital or healthcare environment protocols is highly desirable
  • Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically in high-pressure situations
  • Ability to accurately measure vital signs and recognize abnormal findings for appropriate escalation
  • Attention to detail in documentation and specimen handling to ensure compliance with regulatory standards
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team

  • Familiarity with hospital or healthcare environment protocols is highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and capillary blood sampling using proper aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety and specimen integrity
  • Collect, label, and process blood specimens accurately according to established protocols
  • Obtain vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates to assist in patient assessment
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to specimen collection and patient care
  • Ensure all laboratory procedures are followed meticulously, adhering to safety standards and infection control practices
  • Prepare specimens for transportation or processing in the laboratory, ensuring proper handling and documentation
  • Provide exceptional patient service by explaining procedures clearly, addressing concerns compassionately, and maintaining a respectful environment
  • Maintain detailed records of all procedures performed, including specimen collection logs and incident reports when necessary
  • Assist with other clinical laboratory tasks as needed, supporting overall laboratory operations and patient care initiatives
