The Phlebotomist is responsible for the primary purpose of ordering, collecting, and processing patient specimens. This role also involves assisting in the training of new phlebotomists and providing input into policies related to specimen collection and processing. The Phlebotomist makes routine decisions to ensure that appropriate tests are performed on patients. The position has no formal supervisory responsibility. The role involves working with patients across all age groups, from birth to pediatric (birth-2 yrs.), pediatric/child (2 yrs-12 yrs), adolescent (12-18 yrs), adult (18-64 yrs), and geriatric (65+ yrs).
