About The Position

This position draws blood from patients for medical testing, procedures, and diagnosis under the direct supervision of a licensed physician.

  • Successful completion of a phlebotomy program.
  • 0 to 1 year of experience, preferably including experience in a clinical setting; diagnostic testing experience preferred.
  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT).
  • Must be able to pass required pre-employment health and background screening.
  • Must provide proof of required vaccinations by federal, state, and local funding sources.
  • Employees driving personal vehicles for El Proyecto business must provide El Proyecto proof of a valid driving license, and auto liability insurance.
  • El Proyecto will reimburse employees for their mileage at the current rate set by the Internal Revenue Service.
  • To receive mileage reimbursement, the employee must log their mileage and submit the mileage expense report to their Appropriate Administrator.
  • Walking, talking, sitting, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 10 pounds; hand and wrist dexterity to utilize a computer.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Certified Medical Assistant preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with patients in a clinic setting, establishing identity before performing the procedure.
  • Draw blood in a proper manner, using established protocols, and dispose of sharp instruments in a rigid sharps container.
  • Verify and collect proper samples and accurately label specimens.
  • Process lab requisitions, forms, and specimens.
  • Follow standard precautions at all times.
  • Clean and supply venipuncture trays.
  • Keep current and accurate records.
  • Interact professionally with the patient and the patient’s family or representatives.
  • Consider patient cultural, psychological, social, and environmental factors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
