About The Position
Under the guidance of the Unit Supervisor, the phlebotomist assumes responsibility for performing venipuncture and related procedures under the mission, philosophy, policies, and procedures established by the hospital and department of Pathology.
Requirements
- 6 months to 1 year phlebotomy experience including pediatrics venipuncture and micro-collection.
- High School graduate or GED required
- Phlebotomy , Nursing or Medical Assistant certification preferred.
- Excellent customer relations skills
- math, verbal, and written skills at high school level.
- considerable tact, discretion, and persuasion in order to obtain information and/or willing action or consent where it would otherwise be difficult to obtain.
- Periodically take ‘lead’ responsibilities on a rotating basis.
- Works under general supervision in performing routine assignments, referring unusual or more difficult situations to immediate supervisor or designee.
