Schedule: PRN Location: New Tampa, Tampa, FL The community you'll be caring for: AdventHealth Ambulatory service When you join our team of over 45 Outpatient Clinics across Central Florida, you will be part of a winning team of experts dedicated to whole-person care to help our patients heal, strengthen and renew. We serve patients Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Polk, Volusia, Flagler and Lake Counties with a dedicated Team of therapists, clinicians and staff willing to carry on AdventHealths mission in the communities we serve. As a Laboratory Assistant in an outpatient setting you will provide professional direct and indirect services to specific age groups in the outpatient rehabilitation settings. Utilizes process improvement in achieving the goals of the Sports Med and Rehab Department. Accept the responsibility to practice autonomously and collaboratively in all practice environments to provide best practice to the patient/client. Autonomous practice is characterized by independent, self-determined, professional judgment and action. The role you'll contribute: Responsible for performing various laboratory support procedures in assigned areas, including phlebotomy and specimen processing in clinical and anatomical pathology. This position must meet the required basic continuing education and department-specific requirements. This role involves practical knowledge in various laboratory procedures and support functions. In addition, this position ensures accurate and timely processing of specimens for analysis. This role maintains laboratory equipment and supplies, adhering to safety and quality standards. Responsibilities for this role include performing laboratory support procedures, meeting continuing education requirements, processing specimens, maintaining equipment, and adhering to safety standards.

Requirements

High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

Responsibilities

May perform cytopreparatory staining and accessions surgical cases with knowledge of anatomy.
May receive and set up primary specimen cultures, inoculating petri dishes for bacterial growth.
May clean and disinfect laboratory equipment and spaces, maintaining inventory control and supply stocking.
Participates in laboratory and hospital performance improvement activities, including evaluating new equipment and procedures.
