About The Position

As a Phlebotomist at CSL Plasma, you will be responsible for the efficient and effective collection of plasma from donors by performing venipuncture, monitoring the pheresis process, and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). You will perform all aspects of the pheresis procedure and plasma collection, including donor set-up, monitoring, and disconnecting donors. You will evaluate vein performance, educate new donors, maintain a clean work environment, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Additionally, you will be required to troubleshoot equipment failures and maintain accurate donor records.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum twelve (12) months experience in a medical or health care environment preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • State certification as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician I for automated plasmapheresis procedures in CA.
  • Current Registered Nurse certification by the State of California.

Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and monitor the pheresis process according to SOPs.
  • Evaluate vein performance and make necessary corrections to expedite donation time.
  • Educate new donors on the donation process and related information.
  • Assist with donor reactions and notify appropriate staff as needed.
  • Record incidents during the pheresis process using a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA).
  • Perform calibrations and verify maintenance of equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures and create incident documentation.
  • Monitor donor flow and alert supervisors of any issues.
  • Collect arm or whole blood samples for testing.
  • Ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic management system.
  • Maintain a clean work environment and ensure sufficient operating supplies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all personnel and donor information.
  • May be cross-trained in other areas as needed.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
