About The Position

The Phlebotomist at Baptist Health Hardin is responsible for collecting blood samples from patients for various medical purposes, including testing and transfusions. This role requires close collaboration with patients, nurses, and laboratory staff to ensure accurate specimen collection while maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required, or higher.
• Outstanding communication skills with patients and healthcare personnel.
• Professionalism and acceptance of responsibility for quality specimen collection.
• Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.
• Self-motivation and self-direction in the workplace.

Nice To Haves

• One or more years of experience in the phlebotomy field is preferred (on-the-job training will be considered).
• Completion of a formal phlebotomy training program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform invasive phlebotomy procedures on patients of all ages, adhering to strict infection control and safety policies as well as HIPAA Privacy Regulations.
• Collect blood specimens from other healthcare facilities and maintain supplies as received.
• Keep the work area clean and organized, stocking and maintaining phlebotomy collection trays.
• Transpose and order outpatient testing via the computer system.
• Assist with answering telephone calls and directing incoming calls.
• Assist with collections of legal drug screens and other collection procedures as necessary.
• Process all incoming specimens into the lab and prepare specimens for shipment to reference labs with proper preservation.
