About The Position

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Current Phlebotomy Technician Certification preferred plus specialized certifications as needed.
• 0-5 years of technical experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assesses the physical condition of the site for blood collection and selects appropriate equipment.
• Draws blood from adult, pediatric, and infant patients and ensures proper specimen delivery to the laboratory.
• Interprets and verifies orders, including patient identification, and labels specimens according to policy.
• Assesses the physical condition of the patient during phlebotomy and takes appropriate action as needed.
• Maintains phlebotomy supply levels and restocks lab supplies as necessary.
• Instructs patients on the collection of various specimens and processes them to the appropriate lab area.
• Identifies and communicates problems to appropriate supervision.
• Assesses the type of blood work required for elective pre-op patients according to policy and requirements.
• Performs related duties as required.
