About The Position

Saint Mary's Hospital, Waterbury CT Cancer Center 40 hours, Day Shift Attach Resume Are you a Phlebotomist who enjoys working independently? Then this job is for you! Come work for our Physician Blood Draw Department. Come and be part of our specialized team! You would be primarily responsible to obtain blood specimens, process laboratory specimens for clinical analysis, and to provide patient information to the appropriate care giver. Ensures accurate and complete patient registration.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of phlebotomy program
• Minimum of 1 year of phlebotomy experience in a blood draw station, ambulatory care or acute care setting.
• Knowledge in the use of information system
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to effectively work and communicate with patients, staff and outside providers
• Ability to take initiative and work alone

Nice To Haves

• Nat'l Phlebotomy Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Properly identifies patient per policy and performs venipuncture using standard/butterfly methods
• Labels all specimens following laboratory policy
• Receives/cancels/orders and processes laboratory/microbiology specimens
• Flexible to cover other sites when needed
