The Phlebotomist accurately and efficiently performs specimen collections and testing as defined by laboratory policy and procedure manuals. Responsibilities include computer data entry and workflow monitoring, assessing the environment to assure patient safety, and determining appropriate equipment to use that meets the patient's needs. The role also involves maintaining chain of custody for forensic collections, managing HRP and pending log lists, organizing workflow to improve efficiency, answering phones, faxing reports, maintaining phlebotomy inventory, and ensuring a clean environment. The Phlebotomist may also drive to offsite locations for specimen collections and perform other duties as assigned.
