About The Position

The Phlebotomist at Larkin Community Hospital (LCH) plays a critical role in the healthcare delivery process by performing blood collection procedures with precision and care. Requirements

  • Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician from an accredited program.
  • Knowledge of standard infection control practices and safety procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).

  • Previous experience working in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting.
  • Additional certifications related to patient care or laboratory procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on patients of all ages following established protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Verify patient identity and ensure proper labeling and handling of specimens to maintain accuracy and traceability.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of equipment and work areas to comply with infection control standards.
  • Document procedures and maintain accurate records of blood draws and patient interactions in the hospital information system.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to coordinate specimen collection schedules and address any patient concerns or complications.
