About The Position

The Inpatient Phlebotomist at Williamson Health is responsible for performing phlebotomy on inpatients of all ages, including adults, adolescents, and infants. This role emphasizes patient care and effective communication with patients and hospital staff while conducting laboratory tests that assist physicians in diagnosing, preventing, or treating diseases. The position requires adherence to safety regulations and hospital policies, as well as participation in departmental goals and initiatives.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy training or work experience; phlebotomy certification preferred.
• Good people skills necessary.
• Knowledge of medical laboratory science.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and maintain a positive attitude.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize work.

Nice To Haves

• Mobilab experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy on inpatients of all ages.
• Collect state-required newborn screenings and urine drug screens.
• Positively identify patients and label specimens using two unique identifiers.
• Maintain working knowledge of laboratory policies and procedures.
• Respond appropriately to tests with priority of STAT, call results, or timed specimens.
• Train new employees and students as assigned.
• Assist in other areas of the lab as needed.
• Communicate potential issues or opportunities to improve quality of care or services in a timely manner.
