Shift: First Shift (United States of America) Phlebotomist / Medical Assistant - Transplant Clinic Nebraska Medicine is seeking a Phlebotomist or Medical Assistant to join the Lied Transplant Clinic team. The selected candidate will support clinic operations, including performing blood draws, rooming patients, entering labs, administering vaccines, and assisting with other clinic tasks. Candidates will be considered for either role based on experience and qualifications. Priority consideration will be given to those with prior experience as a Phlebotomist or Medical Assistant. Phlebotomist Details: Phlebotomist Responsible for collection and transportation of patient specimens for clinical laboratory testing adhering to department identification policies. Perform, evaluate, and report patient specimens using point-of-care instrumentation. Demonstrate behavioral skills that contribute to a productive work environment, represent the lab in a professional manner, and provide excellent customer service. May process and distribute patient specimen for clinical laboratory testing. Medical Assistant Duties: Medical Assistant Provides the highest quality of customer service for patients and others by performing all duties in a professional and engaging manner. Provide quality care to patients, under the direction of licensed practitioners, promote efficient operation of the clinic, and provide assistance to physicians and support staff.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 18 years of age required.
  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills required.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, teamwork, and flexibility required.
  • Computer experience required.
  • Attention to detail required.
  • Ability to multitask required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology required.
  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant Program required.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).
  • If required to administer medications, current Medication Aid Registry listing or completed within first 30 days of hire or transfer date, and maintained thereafter required.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct patient care experience or completion of a phlebotomy course or phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification PBT (ASCP) preferred.
  • Experience in a physician's office preferred.
  • Experience in a related area preferred.
  • Ability to be bilingual in English and Spanish for working in certain clinics preferred.
  • Medical assistant certification preferred.
  • Medical Scribe experience preferred.
