About The Position

Primary Purpose: The person in this position is a member of the Patient Centered Medical Home team. Each team member plays an integral role in providing patient-centered health care. The incumbent is responsible in performing venipuncture duties and coordinating laboratory supplies and activities to ensure quality and efficiency. S/he implements and monitors quality improvement/assurance activities as needed in the laboratory. Essential Duties: Perform venipuncture on patients of all ages. Collect/prepare non-blood specimens. Ensure proper specimen processing, labeling, and test ordering. Monitor and take inventory of laboratory supplies. Organize and keep the laboratory clean at all times. Inventory laboratory supplies and place order with the lab vendors. Restock laboratory supplies as appropriate. Record/report missing or damaged laboratory supplies to the supervisor and request replacements as appropriate. Champion safety, compliance, and quality control. Regular and reliable on-site attendance is required. Other Duties: · Perform other related task as directed.

Requirements

  • Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Phlebotomy Technician school completed.
  • Certification from American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians required
  • Formal training in Medical Terminology required.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary education preferred.
  • Previous phlebotomy training or experience preferred but not required.
  • Registered Medical Assistant preferred but not required
  • Experience in clinical setting preferred but not required.
  • Experience in specimen collection and processing preferred but not required
