About the position

The Phlebotomist II position in Blue Hill, ME offers flexible workdays between Monday and Friday, consisting of two 12-hour shifts from 6:00 am to 6:30 pm and one variable 6-hour shift. The role includes responsibilities such as collecting specimens, administering oral solutions, and processing specimens according to established procedures. The position requires effective communication and data entry skills, as well as the ability to perform non-patient facing duties. The successful candidate will also maintain phlebotomy logs and complete required training courses.

Responsibilities

  • Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens and biometric screenings.
  • Administer oral solutions according to established training.
  • Research test/client information and confirm and verify all written and electronic orders.
  • Obtain identification and accurately enter billing information and collect payments when required.
  • Process specimens including labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing, and preparing for transport.
  • Perform non-patient facing duties, including inventory, stock supplies, sanitizing, filing, answering phones, and utilizing email.
  • Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures.
  • Assist with compilation and submission of statistics and data when required.
  • Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner.
  • Complete online and in-person training courses timely.

Requirements

  • Three years phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience.
  • Flexible and available based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
