About The Position

BJC HealthCare System is now hiring a Full-Time Lab Associate II - Phlebotomy located at BJC Medical Group Primary Care at Missouri Baptist Medical Center - Suite 387C. Laboratory-Service. $1000 sign-on to eligible candidates!!! Position Details: Day Shift Hours: Monday-Friday (8am - 5pm) NO Weekends or holidays!!! Experienced phlebotomist position Collection of lab samples, processing and preparing samples for delivery Patient facing position Missouri Baptist Medical Center, an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, offers a full continuum of medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer, women and infants, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound and pain management services. The hospital has a 24-hour adult emergency department and cares for pediatric patients at a separate emergency department in collaboration with St. Louis Children's Hospital. Missouri Baptist is the first and only hospital in St. Louis County to be named a Magnet hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). The prestigious designation is the highest credential a health care organization can receive for nursing excellence and quality patient care. Role Purpose Perform specimen collection, specimen handling and clerical duties. Experienced in phlebotomy and proficient in performing additional tasks such as central processing duties, in-office phlebotomy, or inventory management.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • 2 years or more of relevant experience
  • 2 years of phlebotomy experience in an outreach setting (preferred)
  • Expertise in blood draws & specimen collection
  • Excellent patient interaction and communication skills
  • <2 years

Responsibilities

  • Interpret physician orders and order tests in appropriate system.
  • Perform phlebotomy, positive patient identification, and positive patient interaction, proper collection and specimen integrity.
  • May work in outpatient lab, in physician office, or off campus patient service center.
  • Sort and process specimens received by the laboratory and proficiently handle all specimens received in the lab.
  • Coordinates a simultaneous series of tasks accurately, including STAT orders and fluctuation in workload, prioritizing work to complete within scheduled hours and established turnaround times.
  • May perform registration, inventory maintenance, and other duties as assigned.
