About The Position

This position is for a Phlebotomist I located in Pleasanton, CA. The role requires a state phlebotomy license, noting that NHA licenses are not accepted in CA, WA, or NV. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with rotational weekends. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting various types of specimens, administering oral solutions, and accurately researching and verifying test/client information using lab technology systems. Key duties also include navigating computer systems for data entry, handling billing information and payments, and processing specimens through labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing, and preparing for transport. Additionally, the position involves non-patient facing tasks such as inventory management, stocking supplies, sanitizing, filing, answering phones, and utilizing email. Compliance with departmental policies, assisting with data compilation, maintaining phlebotomy logs, and completing required training courses are also essential aspects of the role. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation.

Requirements

  • State phlebotomy license (Quest does not accept NHA licenses in CA, WA, NV)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Phlebotomy certification (Required in California, Nevada, and Washington)
  • Keyboard/data entry experience
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English

Nice To Haves

  • Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred
  • One year phlebotomy experience preferred
  • Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, biometric screening, and insurance exams.
  • Administer oral solutions according to established training.
  • Research test/client information and confirm and verify all written and electronic orders by utilizing lab technology systems, Client contact, and approved tools.
  • Navigate a computer and accurately enter data.
  • Obtain identification and accurately enter billing information and collect payments when required, following corporate policies.
  • Process specimens including: labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing and preparing for transport as required by test order.
  • Perform all non-patient facing duties, including inventory, stock supplies, sanitizing, filing, answering phones and utilizing email as appropriate.
  • Read, understand and comply with departmental policies, protocols and procedures.
  • Assist with compilation and submission of statistics and data when required.
  • Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner and based on frequency, such as maintenance logs and temperature logs.
  • Complete online and in person training courses timely.
