About The Position

Quest Diagnostics is hiring a Phlebotomist I in Edison, NJ. This role is a hospital-based position at JFK. The pay range is $17.76 - $26.64 per hour, with potential for shift differentials of 10% for second shift and 15% for third shift. Salary offers are based on relevant skills, training, experience, education, certifications, and market/organizational factors. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation. Quest Diagnostics offers a 401(k) Plan with eligibility for all employees after one month, and after one year, a fully vested company match up to 5% of pay. On-call employees are eligible for 401(k) pre-tax and/or Roth IRA with company match up to 5% after 12 months of service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
  • One year phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collect specimens according to established procedures. This includes, but not limited to: drug screens, biometric screening and insurance exams.
  • Administer oral solutions according to established training.
  • Research test/client information and confirm and verify all written and electronic orders by utilizing lab technology systems, Client contact, and approved tools.
  • Navigate a computer and accurately enter data.
  • Obtain identification and accurately enter billing information and collect payments when required, following corporate policies.
  • Process specimens including: labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing and preparing for transport as required by test order.
  • Perform all non-patient facing duties, including inventory, stock supplies, sanitizing, filing, answering phones and utilizing email as appropriate.
  • Read, understand and comply with departmental policies, protocols and procedures.
  • Assist with compilation and submission of statistics and data when required.
  • Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner and based on frequency, such as maintenance logs and temperature logs.
  • Complete online and in person training courses timely.
