About The Position

The Phlebotomist I position in Colchester, CT is a full-time role that operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with rotational weekends. This position is responsible for collecting specimens according to established procedures, which includes drug screens, biometric screenings, and insurance exams. The role requires administering oral solutions, researching test/client information, and confirming orders using lab technology systems. Additionally, the phlebotomist will process specimens, maintain logs, and perform non-patient facing duties such as inventory management and data entry. Training will be provided, and there are opportunities for career advancement within the organization.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical training as a medical assistant or paramedic preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
  • One year of phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience.

  • Experience in a medical or clinical setting.
  • Familiarity with lab technology systems.

Responsibilities

  • Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens and biometric screenings.
  • Administer oral solutions according to established training.
  • Research test/client information and confirm written and electronic orders using lab technology systems.
  • Navigate a computer and accurately enter data.
  • Obtain identification and enter billing information, collecting payments when required.
  • Process specimens including labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing, and preparing for transport.
  • Perform non-patient facing duties such as inventory management, sanitizing, and answering phones.
  • Comply with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures.
  • Assist with compilation and submission of statistics and data when required.
  • Maintain phlebotomy logs in a timely manner and based on frequency.
  • Complete online and in-person training courses timely.
