Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Certification or licensing based on State requirements preferred.
  • Minimum three months' experience in a medical or healthcare environment or equivalent education and experience.
  • Completed documentation of training appropriate for duties before performing independently.
  • Strong customer service skills required.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal protocols required.
  • Basic computer knowledge and skills required.
  • Ability to make accurate and complete documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety regulations and procedure manuals required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English required.
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment with interruptions required.
  • Demonstrates consistency and reliability in attendance and performance required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including daytime, evening, weekends, and holidays required.
  • Ability to perform venipunctures required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure total operation compliance with state and federal regulations (e.g., FDA approved SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, and GMP).
  • Maintain high levels of customer service and positive donor experience.
  • Keep the work area clean and professional.
  • Review and confirm donor identification while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Set up and prepare equipment and supplies for venipuncture and plasmapheresis procedures.
  • Label and ensure accurate labeling of each unit and samples.
  • Execute venipunctures and plasma collection with high standards of quality and safety.
  • Operate automated plasmapheresis machines and respond to alarms and alerts.
  • Monitor donor conditions to ensure comfort and safety.
  • Disconnect donors and handle biohazardous waste disposal.
  • Perform calibration and maintenance of plasmapheresis machines.
  • Report unsafe situations and conditions to management.
  • Maintain adequate inventory and replenish supplies on plasma carts.
  • Drive training efficiencies to ensure compliance and timeliness.
  • Troubleshoot machine alarms and perform routine quality checks.
