About The Position

The Phlebotomist I position in North Miami Beach, FL, is a full-time role that operates on a Monday to Friday schedule with rotational weekends. The working hours are from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm. This position involves collecting specimens according to established procedures, administering oral solutions, and processing specimens for laboratory testing. The role requires effective communication, data entry skills, and adherence to departmental policies and protocols. The successful candidate will also be responsible for maintaining phlebotomy logs and assisting with various administrative tasks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical training as a medical assistant or paramedic preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
  • One year of phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with laboratory technology systems.

Responsibilities

  • Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens and biometric screenings.
  • Administer oral solutions according to established training.
  • Research test/client information and confirm and verify all written and electronic orders using lab technology systems.
  • Navigate a computer and accurately enter data.
  • Obtain identification and accurately enter billing information and collect payments when required.
  • Process specimens including labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing, and preparing for transport as required by test order.
  • Perform non-patient facing duties such as inventory management, sanitizing, filing, and answering phones.
  • Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures.
  • Assist with compilation and submission of statistics and data when required.
  • Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner.
  • Complete online and in-person training courses timely.
