About The Position

This position involves collecting laboratory specimens from patients, performing routine laboratory tests, and carrying out various clerical duties.

Requirements

  • High school education or general education degree (GED)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within ninety (90) days of hire and maintained throughout employment
  • For Phlebotomist II: Completion of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science approved phlebotomy program, or an acceptable formal structured phlebotomy program approved by the American Society of Clinical Pathologist as a prerequisite for phlebotomist technician, or a minimum of one year full time experience as a Phlebotomist
  • For Phlebotomist II: An additional three (3) months of experience
  • For Phlebotomist II: Knowledge of Database software
  • For Phlebotomist II: Knowledge of Inventory software
  • For Phlebotomist II: Knowledge of Order processing systems
  • For Phlebotomist II: Knowledge of Spreadsheet software
  • For Phlebotomist II: Knowledge of Word Processing software
  • For Phlebotomist II: Must be a registered Phlebotomy Technician with American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) or American Medical Technologist (AMT) or equivalent or registry eligible and must obtain registry within six (6) months of hire and maintain throughout employment
  • Employee must not and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG’s Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA’s List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG’s List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE)
  • Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care

Nice To Haves

  • For Phlebotomist I: Completion of a phlebotomy program from a technical school is preferred
  • For Phlebotomist I: Prefer a Registered Phlebotomy Technician with the American Society of Clinical Pathologist
