About The Position

The Phlebotomist Group Lead in Clifton, NJ, is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Patient Service Center and ensuring that all phlebotomy activities are completed accurately and on time. This role requires a deep understanding of established practices and procedures, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence for patients. The PSR IV will act as a backup to the Patient Services Supervisor, providing support in various areas including patient, client, field, compliance, training, metrics, and administrative tasks. The position involves mentoring new employees, maintaining high standards of customer service, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational protocols.

Requirements

  • Seven years phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience.
  • Flexible and available based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call and overtime.
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver license, and clean driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years in a Patient Service Center (PSC) / In-Office (IOP) environment preferred.
  • Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collect specimens according to established procedures.
  • Administer oral solutions according to established training.
  • Research test/client information and confirm and verify all written and electronic orders.
  • Complete all data entry requirements accurately.
  • Enter billing information and collect payments when required.
  • Perform departmental-related clerical duties when assigned.
  • Read, understand and comply with departmental policies, protocols and procedures.
  • Perform verification of patient demographic info/initials post-venipuncture.
  • Assist with compilation and submission of monthly statistics and data.
  • Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner.
  • Complete training courses and keep up-to-date with the latest phlebotomy techniques.
  • Travel to Territory Manager meeting if held off-site.
  • Participate on special projects and teams.
  • Perform Point of Care (POC) testing where needed.
  • Act as mentor and resource for new employees.
  • Assist with periodic inventory counts.
  • Assist with the preparation of schedules for the assigned workgroup.
  • Communicate professionally with clients to resolve or refer problems.
  • Ensure staff is following all safety precautions.
  • Assist supervisors with the implementation of SOPs.
  • Ensure facilities are neat, clean and in good repair.
  • Provide effective onboarding services to new clients.
  • Partner with Supervisor to assist the transition process for new offices.
  • Support Patient Inquiries and Problem Resolution Line.
