About The Position

The Phlebotomist conducts specimen collection and processing with an emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, completeness, safety, and compliance while maintaining a professional image and adhering to our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values. The role involves following proper specimen identification procedures during specimen collection and labeling, as well as collecting, preparing, processing, storing and/or transporting specimens using correct techniques and anticoagulants. Additionally, the Phlebotomist performs routine monitoring of temperatures for refrigerators, freezers, and microbiology incubator(s).

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Completion of an accredited phlebotomy program
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct specimen collection and processing with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Follow proper specimen identification procedures during collection and labeling.
  • Collect, prepare, process, store, and transport specimens using correct techniques.
  • Perform routine monitoring of temperatures for refrigerators, freezers, and microbiology incubators.
  • Receive incoming phone calls and document requests.
  • Investigate, document, and resolve specimen issues for timely reporting of results.
  • Perform clerical duties and housekeeping tasks to maintain laboratory cleanliness and order.
  • Assist in ordering supplies for the laboratory.
  • Train new students and staff, documenting proficiency as directed.
  • Effectively use computer options relevant to job duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
