About The Position

This job involves performing various laboratory functions to support patient care within the Clinical Lab department. Key responsibilities include conducting phlebotomy procedures, processing and receiving specimens, accessioning and distributing specimens, and performing and reporting specific test procedures. The role requires the individual to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with the understanding that reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities. The Ochsner LSU Health System of North Louisiana is a large healthcare provider serving over 140,000 patients annually across more than 20 locations, including Level I and Level II Pediatric Trauma Centers in Shreveport and a Level III Trauma Center in Monroe. The system employs over 4,200 individuals and works alongside a Physician Group of 950 physicians and residents across more than 65 specialties.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • None (Work Experience)
  • Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information
  • Proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
  • Knowledge of venipuncture procedures
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of phlebotomy course
  • Current license or trainee license in the state of practice

  • Other related duties as required
