The position involves obtaining laboratory specimens for processing and performing other testing in a professional manner from hospital, clinic, and nursing home patients to ensure quality results in accordance with regulatory and accreditation standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or General Educational Development Diploma (GED) required.
• Previous work experience in a medical setting is beneficial.
• Basic knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology.
• Completion of a formal phlebotomy program preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience and experience in a laboratory-related field preferred.
• May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Collects and manages samples of blood and specimens from patients.
• Ensures patient safety during the sample collection process.
• Records and documents patient information accurately.
• Follows all standard procedures and safety regulations.
• Deploys asepsis techniques during phlebotomy procedures.
• Communicates with patients, collecting their health information and answering their questions regarding phlebotomy procedures.
