Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Previous phlebotomy experience and/or training is required.
• Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

Nice To Haves

• Background in a medical laboratory.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Collection of blood specimens.
• Performing laboratory office duties.
• Processing laboratory specimens.
• Registering patients and entering necessary data into the computer system.
• Specimen accessioning.
• Answering telephone calls and processing paperwork.
• Preparation of specimens for testing and/or for sending to the central laboratory or to a reference laboratory.
• Handling blood, body fluid and urine specimens according to established procedures.
• Performing limited waived and specified non-waived POC tests as authorized by the Laboratory Director.
• Acting as a driver and participating in the on-call rotation as required.
