About The Position

MiraCosta College is seeking an equity-minded, full-time Philosophy Instructor for a tenure-track position starting in August 2025. The role primarily involves teaching introductory philosophy courses and collaborating with other faculty members to develop curricula and implement culturally responsive teaching methods. The position requires the instructor to maintain residency within 200 miles of the college's district worksite to ensure accessibility and continuity in educational services.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Philosophy; OR
• Bachelor's degree in Philosophy AND Master's in Humanities or Religious Studies; OR
• Equivalent qualifications; OR
• A fully satisfied, lifetime California Community College credential authorizing instruction in the appropriate subject matter; AND
• Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse backgrounds of community college students.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in teaching at the community college level.
