About The Position

The Health West Pharmacy Tech is a friendly, energetic, detail-oriented individual who wants to work in a cutting-edge environment focused on individualized patient care. The primary purpose of the Pharmacy Technician in the care center and the retail pharmacy environment is to work independently and serve all patients.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a certified technician in retail and/or hospital setting.
  • Ability to work independently and with fellow coworkers.
  • Ability to preserve confidentiality of information.
  • Ability and willingness to move with purpose and a strong sense of urgency.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of tasks/projects.
  • Committed to providing patient service that makes both clinic and external patients feel welcome, important, and appreciated.
  • Use and understand verbal, written, and listening skills to interact with patients and colleagues.
  • Ability to use math to solve problems.
  • Demonstrate the ability to use computer skills including keyboarding and practical data entry into a database software program.
  • Able to type 50 words per minute.
  • Read and transcribe pharmaceutical information.
  • Must be flexible with work schedule to meet pharmacy department needs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform computer entry of prescription information including patient search, prescriber search, drug selection, prescription interpretation and entry, and basic problem resolution.
  • Accept customer and prescription information required to process refill prescriptions, including refill authorization and prior authorizations from doctor offices where permitted by state law and Health West protocol.
  • Perform all functions and duties of a Pharmacy Technician in the retail pharmacy setting when called upon to do so.
  • Engage patients by greeting them and offering assistance with pharmacy services.
  • Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful patient experience.
  • Resolve patient issues and answer questions to ensure a positive patient experience.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other health care providers.
  • Model and share patient service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful patient experience.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures; maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
  • Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
