Scope of Work The Pharmacy Technician, under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist, processes, prepares, and delivers medications and supplies, working with multiple medication automation systems. The Pharmacy Technician works in complex pharmacy areas, including Sterile Product Compounding, Controlled Substance Handling, and Inventory Management. Under the direction of a Pharmacist, provides technical assistance, processing and preparing medications and supplies. Works with multiple medication automation systems. Delivers medications and supplies to patient care areas. Triages phone calls and messages from multidisciplinary team members. Prepares supplies / medication under the direction of a Pharmacist. Prepares and packages bulk medications into unit of use packaging. Handles controlled substances for pharmacy and patient care areas under direct supervision of a pharmacist per federal and state law. Maintains a clean and organized work area. Delivers pharmacy prepared medications, controlled substances and supplies to various nursing stations/patient care areas. Triages phone calls and messages Maintains all requirements for CPhT certifications. Completes all Spectrum Health assigned competencies by assigned due dates.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent retail or hospital pharmacy experience
  • LIC-Pharmacist Intern - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • LIC-Pharmacy Technician Temp - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • LIC-Pharmacy Technician - STATE_MI State of Michigan 1 Year required
  • CRT-Pharmacy Technician, Certified (CPHT) - PTCB Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Excludes - LIC-Pharmacist Intern 1 Year required
  • CRT-Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT) - NHA National Healthcareer Association Excludes - LIC-Pharmacist Intern 1 Year required

Nice To Haves

  • Ideal candidate will possess both Full Pharmacy Technician License and Certification, such as PTCB or ExCPT
  • Strong IV experience would be a great plus
