About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician supports the safe, accurate, and efficient dispensing of medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The technician assists with prescription preparation, patient communication, inventory management, and workflow coordination to ensure high-quality pharmacy services that promote health equity and improve patient outcomes across Upham’s Community Care. Pay Range: The expected base pay for the position is $19-$26 per hour and may be increased based on other factors, such as language, certifications, etc.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Active Massachusetts Pharmacy Technician License required.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in prescription processing.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care, cultural competence, and equity-focused service delivery.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with professionalism and empathy.

Nice To Haves

  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician training program preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a retail, outpatient, or health center pharmacy preferred.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy software (Liberty or similar) and electronic health records (EPIC preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists in processing, filling, and labeling prescriptions accurately and efficiently.
  • Retrieve, count, pour, weigh, measure, and sometimes mix medications under direct supervision.
  • Input and maintain prescription and patient data in the Liberty pharmacy software and electronic health record (EPIC).
  • Communicate with patients, providers, and insurance representatives to resolve medication-related issues.
  • Support patients in understanding medication pick-up, delivery, and refill processes with compassion and cultural sensitivity.
  • Manage inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and monitoring for expiration dates.
  • Prepare medications for Omnicell adherence packaging and Parata automation systems as assigned.
  • Support compliance with 340B program policies and FQHC guidelines for uninsured and underinsured patients.
  • Maintain organized and clean work areas according to infection control, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Follow all privacy and security regulations in handling Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, training, and continuing education activities.

  • Assist with pharmacy reports, audits, and data collection as assigned.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to improving workflow efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support pharmacy operations.
