About The Position
Position Function: To assist a pharmacist in the technical aspects of dispensing pharmaceuticals and administrative operations of the pharmacy unit. This will be a part-time position. Salary Grade : 10 Please see Staff Compensation Structure or Skilled Crafts and Service Maintenance Compensation Schedule for salary ranges. For salary grade UC, these positions are "Unclassified" and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department. Area of Specialization: Animal Health Center Anticipated Appointment Date: March 2026.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in a related field or four years of related experience.
- -or- Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience approved by the Department of Human Resources Management.
- Excellent telephone and email communication skills, especially related to client service.
- Must be capable of working in a team environment comprised of doctors, staff, and students to provide veterinary care of patients and aid in the instruction of veterinary students and veterinary technology students.

Responsibilities
- Calculates doses, mixes, and dispenses prescribed medicines and pharmaceutical preparations in absence of or under supervision of pharmacist.
- Compounds preparations according to prescriptions issued by the medical staff.
- Pours, weighs, or measures dosages and grinds, heats, filters, or dissolves and mixes liquid or soluble drugs and chemicals.
- Labels drugs, chemicals and other pharmaceutical preparations as directed by pharmacists.
- Procures, stores, and issues pharmaceutical materials and supplies.
- Maintains files and records and submits required pharmacy reports.
- Issues controlled and uncontrolled substances.
- Assists in drug product selection based on knowledge of availability and appropriateness of product.
- Receives and places supplies in stock.
- Monitors expenditures of pharmacy and assists in the budgeting process.
- Provides on-call emergency services in absence of upon request of the pharmacist.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
