About The Position

PRIMARY PURPOSE: To support the safe and accurate dispensing of medications by assisting the Registered Pharmacist and Chief Pharmacy Officer across all stages of prescription preparation, patient service, and pharmacy operations, ensuring every prescription is verified, properly labeled, and ready for patient use in compliance with regulatory standards.

Requirements

Working knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology, drug classifications, and prescription processing procedures.
Proficiency in pharmacy management software and electronic prescription systems, with the ability to accurately enter, retrieve, and maintain patient and prescription data.
Strong attention to detail and precision in medication preparation, labeling, and dosage verification.
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and standard office applications.
Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with patients from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in English, both verbally and in writing, across all clinical and administrative interactions.
Ability to handle difficult or sensitive situations involving patients, providers, or colleagues in a calm and professional manner.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all patient, medical, and financial information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Ability to review, understand, and apply concepts presented in training programs, continuing education, and professional literature.
Comfort providing support in an environment where staff education on HIV prevention and sexual health is part of the agency's mission, which may include exposure to explicit health materials and direct conversations on sensitive topics.
Completion of a Florida Board of Pharmacy approved pharmacy technician training program.
Required: Active Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) license issued by the Florida Board of Pharmacy.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a pharmacy technician, preferably in a clinical or community health setting.
This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

Preferred: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) preferred. Candidates holding an equivalent national certification through the National Healthcareer Association (ExCPT) will also be considered.
Preferred: Bilingual strongly preferred (English and Haitian Creole or Spanish).

Responsibilities

Greet and welcome patients, answer basic questions, and assist with locating pharmacy items.
Assist the Registered Pharmacist in dispensing medications and other healthcare products to patients.
Receive and process written prescription requests, refill requests, and electronic prescriptions transmitted from provider offices.
Prepare prescribed medications by counting, pouring, weighing, measuring, and mixing as directed.
Verify that all information on each prescription is complete and accurate prior to dispensing.
Prepare prescription labels, select the appropriate prescription container, and affix all required labels to the container.
Compute and determine prescription prices and file completed prescriptions for Registered Pharmacist review before dispensing to the patient.
Refer all clinical questions regarding prescriptions, drug information, or health matters to the Registered Pharmacist on duty.
Maintain client and family confidentiality at all times.
Comply with all FoundCare policies and procedures.
Provide coverage as needed at other FoundCare pharmacy locations.
Assist with agency fundraising activities as requested, including promoting events, selling tickets, and soliciting donations.
Perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to, participating in emergency preparedness activities as needed.
