About The Position
We are seeking qualified Pharmacy Technicians to support healthcare services within a federal correctional facility. The Pharmacy Technician will assist pharmacists in preparing, dispensing, and managing medications while ensuring compliance with federal and institutional regulations. Requirements
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (PTCB Certification REQUIRED)
- Minimum of one (1) year experience as a Pharmacy Technician
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current CPR certification
- Basic computer and data entry skills
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret prescriptions and medication orders from medical staff
- Prepare medications for pharmacist review prior to dispensing
- Assist in medication distribution and pill line operations
- Maintain pharmacy inventory, including tracking expiration dates
- Ensure proper storage and handling of medications
- Maintain accurate records using pharmacy computer systems
- Assist in restocking automated dispensing systems (e.g., Pyxis)
- Monitor and maintain controlled substance and syringe inventories
- Support patient instruction when appropriate
- Maintain a clean and organized pharmacy workspace
- Assist with administrative and documentation tasks
