About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician supports clinical research activities by assisting in the receipt, preparation, dispensing, storage, accountability, and documentation of investigational and non-investigational products in a regulated research pharmacy setting. This role works under the supervision of licensed pharmacists and in close collaboration with clinical research teams to ensure pharmacy operations align with study protocols, departmental SOPs, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 - 6 years pharmacy technician experience performing sterile compounding, preferably in a hospital setting and/or sterile compounding facility
  • Basic knowledge of specimen handling, processing, and storage procedures.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain 100% accountability of all investigational products, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with sponsor and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform sterile and non-sterile compounding activities in compliance with USP 797 and USP 795 guidelines and protocol-specific instructions.
  • Prepare and maintain protocol-specific pharmacy binders, logs, labels, medication orders, and required documentation to support study execution.
  • Provide support during Site Initiation Visits (SIVs), pharmacy simulations, audits, and sponsor monitoring visits, including documentation review and preparation.
  • Conduct daily cleanroom, pharmacy, and laboratory area maintenance and restoration activities to ensure a compliant and safe working environment.
  • Perform daily temperature monitoring and generate required reports for pharmacy storage areas for pharmacist review.
  • Assist with inventory management, including monthly reviews of expired medications, product quarantine, purchase order submissions, and pharmacy supply tracking.
  • Utilize computerized pharmacy inventory management systems to document product receipt, dispensing, and external destruction of non-investigational products.
  • Communicate effectively with pharmacists, the Pharmacy Director, drug wholesalers, and clinical research staff regarding operational, inventory, and protocol-related matters.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of treatment assignments for blinded studies and comply with all organizational, regulatory, and sponsor-required training.
