Assists with operational and all distribution responsibilities as they are related to Pharmacy Technician functions including Orlando Health software and hardware systems. This role involves demonstrating an understanding of safety, emergency, and risk management procedures, as well as the hospital mission, personnel policies, philosophy, goals, customer service, and objectives of the Pharmacy and Orlando Health. The technician will be familiar with general duties and processes of the Pharmacy department, and able to identify and utilize resources for customer service and patient care. Key functions include operating pharmacy equipment, performing basic Pharmacy Technician procedures, and basic buyer procedures including drug procurement. The technician accurately assists the Pharmacist in medication distribution, including aseptic techniques for admixture of various types of medication (e.g. chemotherapy) and tasks associated with automated dispensing cabinets. Maintaining USP 797 standards and other regulatory required documentation, along with safe handling and proper disposal requirements, are also essential. The position may involve special project completion and training new pharmacy technicians. It requires maintaining advanced expertise in and actively covering technician services in a specialized practice area (e.g., medication history acquisition) depending on departmental needs, and compliance with Orlando Health policies and procedures.
